#Dishoom takes UAE-GCC by storm... Thu AED 900k, Fri AED 1.1 million. Total: AED 2 million [₹ 3.63 cr]. EXCELLENT!

 

The gap in between Baaghi and Dishoom came mainly from single screen circuits. There was a difference of 43 lakhs nett in CP Berar and CI which is mostly dominated by single screens. In percentage terms CP Berar and CI were more than 25% lower. Then you had smaller circuits like Assam and Odisha making of nearly 18 lakhs nett. Although these gaps are not big in numbers, they are in terms of percentages. Both films did their best business in mass centres but Baaghi scored better in the single screens of those centres. The single screen business difference is due to the genre, one is action comedy and the other is an action love story and the latter will always find more takers in single screens. Dishoom actually only led in one circuit that is East Punjab. Delhi NCR was also better but Baaghi made that up and a little more in UP so edged past in the overall circuit figure..

Dishoom has grossed 65 crore apprx Worldwide which is the fifth highest collection of the year. The film is actually the biggest Varun Dhawan opener Overseas if Dilwale is not counted as the business of that film is mainly on the name of Shahrukh Khan. The Overseas business of Dishoom will be around the $1.75-2 million mark with $900k coming from Gulf, $400k from US / Canada and over £100k in the United Kingdom. The business from Gulf, US / Canada, UK and Australia is $1.5 million which itself is enough to make it Varun Dhawan's biggest opener Overseas as ABCD 2 grossed $1.45 million and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania a little over $1 million. The top opening weekend Worldwide grossers of the year are as follows.

The film was banned in Pakistan so the Overseas business would have been hit by around 15% and would have crossed $2 million for sure with Pakistan..

Dishoom grossed 1.50 crore nett apprx on its second Monday taking its lifetime business to around 64.50 crore nett. The second week seems to be heading for around 15 crore nett which is better than the 12.57 crore nett of Baaghi. Compared to films last year it is in the same range as films like Drishyam and Dil Dhadakne Do. The second weekend figures for Dishoom are as follows.

Dishoom became the highest rated film on television as far as 2016 releases are concerned. The numbers it recorded were excellent and if we convert some of the old TRP rating into Barc then it is bigger than films like Kick, Dhoom 3 and Rowdy Rathore. The theatre footfalls of Dishoom were 76 lakh apprx and and if we add to its premier television showing numbers its a total of over 1.70 crore making it the third most watched film of 2016 after Sultan and Housefull 3. It comfortably beats Airlift by around 20 lakhs and the television numbers of the second biggest grosser of 2016 Rustom are yet to come. Sultan leads with only its theatre footfalls with television yet to be added. The rating are impressions (BARC) which is basically the number of television sets that viewed the films on their respective premieres.

1920 London was a rare bright spot for horror genre a few weeks back. The film did phenomenally well for the horror genre. Sultan will be making its way on to television screens in mid October and will hit top spot for 2016 but remains to be seen if it can beat the record of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
