Sarabjit had a poor weekend despite some decent growth over the weekend. Due to a dull initial the growth had to be more so even though the trend is reasonable the numbers are still very poor. The first weekend business of Sarabjit is as follows. Friday - 3,00,00,000 Saturday - 4,00,00,000 Sunday - 4,75,00,000 TOTAL - 11,75,00,000 The film may hold over the weekdays but if it is to get a respectable total the Monday number has to be as good as Friday and that looks an impossible task. The best case looks holds at low levels.
Sarabjit had a low collections on Monday with around 2 crore nett. The drop from Friday is okay as North India was pretty steady but the level of collections is far too low. The four day business of Sarabjit is as follows. Friday - 3,00,00,000 Saturday - 4,00,00,000 Sunday - 4,75,00,000 Monday - 2,00,00,000 TOTAL - 13,75,00,000 The week should go to around 18.50 crore nett and it may get a second week run at low collections as the releases this week are pretty weak but even then a 25 crore nett lifetime is a best case scenario for the film. Despite the best collections coming in North India especially UP as it is tax free there now, they are still much lower than they should be.
The new releases Phobia, Veerapan and Waiting opened to a very dull response with the first named registering 2-3% collections and Veerapan getting up to 7-8% due to 10% plus response in single screens in Maharashtra and Central India. Single screens in North and East are as bad as the multiplexes. Waiting was as Phobia but with lowere screen count. There was another release Fredrick and with a name like that nothing more than washout collections could be expected. Not that titles of Phobia, Veerapan and Waiting are much better. Veerapan will have the best collections on day one but they will be very low and there is not much hope afterwards as these sort of films hold little appeal outside places around Maharashtra. The Hollywood release Angry Birds managed the best occupancy of around 15% and though the release is not very wide it could turn out to be the best bet this week. Sarabjit had steady but low collections in Delhi / UP and East Punjab on day eight. The film crashed out in the rest of the country at the start of the second week.
Hrithik Roshan and comedy? Sounds new right? Well yes, the actor wants to come out of his comfort zone and will surprise the audiences with his new set of skills in terms of comedy. Gone are the days when people saw Hrithik as a dancer and an actor, Hrithik will soon be seen as a comedian in his upcoming film. A source close to the actor was quoted as saying, "It's time for Hrithik to unwind. After a series of intense exhausting parts in Guzaarish, Bang Bang and Mohenjo-Daro he needs to loosen up, have a ball." However, Hrithik Roshan has not given his nod to the comedy film yet and the matter was just on a casual talk with the film-maker. Hrithik will decide to star in the film or not when Sajid brings the narration of the film. It is also reported that producer Sajid Nadiadwala has shown interest in Sajid Khan's plans and if all goes well, Nadiadwala would produce the comedy flick starring Hrithik Roshan in the lead role. Well we really hope all goes well between Hrithik Roshan, Sajid Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala on this project and we certainly want to see Hrithik Roshan starring in a comedy flick, it would be something fresh and entertaining.
