Housefull 3 did well on day one grossing 15.50 crore nett apprx. The film fared best in Gujarat (2 crore apprx) and Rajasthan (94 lakhs) but these markets could have been even better if single screens were strong. The multiplexes in places like Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Surat put up very good numbers. The opening day is the second best of the year after Fan (partial holiday) and the second best for an Akshay Kumar starrer after Singh Is Bling (national holiday). The film has managed to put up the highest opening day figures of the year in places like Gujarat, Rajasthan and CPCI while even for an Akshay Kumar starrer the numbers are highest ever in West Bengal and Nizam / Andhra. There was apprehension within the film industry when the film opened as the opening was not like a biggie and then the usual negative press which comes for the commercial Hindi film which led to very low numbers were doing the rounds. This was likely to happen as the youth interest in the film will be limited and it is families which will decide the fate and they do not come out on the Friday morning. The collections were better post 5pm as collections in cities and theatres which are driven by family audiences improved as expected. The big question will be how this audience appreciates the film and it will be next few days which will answer that.
Besides being a good actor, Farhan Akhtar is also a rockstar in real life. He’s even displayed his singing skills on screen in Rock On. And the actor looks to be in a mood of constantly exploring new ways to fuse his two loves for acting and singing. According to Mumbai Mirror, Farhan will be starring in Nikhil Advani’s next production, where he’ll be seen playing a rockstar but with a slight twist. The film, titled Lucknow Central, will be set in a prison, and will have Farhan as one of the inmates, who discover music after being sentenced to life imprisonment. The film’s producer, Nikhil Advani, was quoted saying, “They start a band and discover pride, self-confidence, and a reason to wake up every morning.” It’s inspired by a true story, and will be the actor’s third film where he plays a rockstar after Rock On and its upcoming sequel this year. Lucknow Central will mark the directorial debut of Advani’s assistant, Ranjit Tiwari, and is expected to go on floors by October end. Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani are expected to come on board as coproducers.

OK Jaanu’ , the official remake version of Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film ‘OK Kanmani’. The movie stars Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in the Hindi Version. The shooting of the movie recently wrapped up at Ahemedabad and the actors were seen having gala time after the wrap. Interestingly, the actor in most of the portions was required to do a lot of bike riding. A spokesperson from the film said, “Aditya is a sheer bike lover and he had even purchased one Triumph a while back. He loves going off of for late night rides on the empty streets of Bombay. Once he gets some time off, he is even planning to take off somewhere far for off roads.” Aditya is teaming up with Shraddha for the second time after ‘Aashiqui 2’, the movie is slated to release on January 13 next year.
