Nikhil Advani, the producer of the film ‘Lucknow Central’ has found his lead actor. Farhan Akhtar is all set to play the lead role in the film. The movie which will be directed by Advani's assistant, Ranjit Tiwari is set in a jail. A source revealed, “It is expected to go on the floors by October end and has Farhan in the role of a prisoner. Most of it will be shot in Mumbai on a huge set in a studio.” Ranjit’s film is inspired by a true story of convicts sentenced to life imprisonment in the Lucknow Central Jail. Reportedly, Farhan is currently working on Shujaat Saudagar's ‘Rock On 2’ which also features Shraddha Kapoor and Arjun Rampal in lead roles.
Director Sudhir Mishra’s upcoming film ‘Daasdev’ follows a contrary path to the classical love tale ‘Devdas’. ‘Devdas’ is a story of a wealthy person who loses it all and also died due to the stress caused by heartbreak in love and overconsumption of alcohol. Sudhir says, “I am making ‘Daasdev’; I’ve played around ‘Devdas’ in it. If in the story of ‘Devdas’, you see the journey of Dev becoming a ‘das’ (slave/servant), then this is the journey from Das to Dev. My ‘Devdas’ is not that much of a loser; he doesn’t get stuck in his difficulties but rather evolves out of it.” Mishra said this at the promotional event by Bihar Government to make the state destination for film shoots. ‘Daasdev’ stars Richa Chaddha, Aditi Rao Hydari and Rahul Bhat in the lead roles.
Abhishek Bachchan and Karan Johar, reportedly, had a late night meeting recently. The duo has worked together in films like 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna' and 'Dostana'. Now, the buzz is that the two are set to reunite for a film. Karan and Abhishek have been good friends since quite long. A source said, "Abhishek and Karan had a late night meeting at Karan's house earlier this week. It was a casual meeting but they are said to have discussed few projects too. So there is a possibility that they will soon collaborate for a project and might announce something."
Housefull 3 has grossed around 16 crore nett as per early estimates on Saturday. The film has shown growth in the 5% range but could have been better but on the other side there is some growth there. The film has fairly good collections but trend is average over the first two days. The two day total is around 31 crore nett plus. The main growth has come in Delhi NCR and Bangalore while single screens are an issue for the film and are not performing. The single screens did not open great yesterday and fell further today. The film will be depending on multiplexes as its unlikely the single screen contribution will be like it should for a big commercial hindi film. The film will need a big jump on Sunday to reach 50 crore nett and it is possible though single screens will have to have that big jump on Sunday which they normally do. The weekend will probably fall short of the 52 crore nett of Fan which is the highest weekend of 2016.
The Housefull brand has seen very similar growth on its opening days. The brand has gone up 25-30% apprx with each of the releases.. Housefull (2010) - 9.32 crore Housefull 2 (2012) - 12.13 crore (+30%) Housefull 3 (2016) - 15.25 crore (+25%) The initials of the brand have shown good growth as the releases get wider but the real test for Housefull 3 is can it stretch the lifetime business of the brand. This will be a test as Housefull 2 is the second highest grossing comedy film only behind Ready which had Salman Khan coming off a Dabangg. .

The business is good in multiplexes (except South) and average in single screens The two day business of Housefull 3 is as follows Friday - 15,25,00,000 Saturday - 16,00,00,000 apprx Total - 31,25,00,000 The film should show good growth on Sunday especially in the core Hindi circuits but it will be dependent on where Monday finishes so it can get a good two week run before the next major release Udta Punjab..
