As we reported yesterday, Varun Dhawan will star in Abhishek Varman’s, ‘Shiddat’ and the filmmakers are hunting for the second male lead. Now, reports suggest that the filmmakers have zeroed-in on Arjun Kapoor for the role. Alia Bhatt will be seen playing the leading lady. A source revealed, “The casting took a while, but it has been sealed and the film’s team has already begun work on its pre-production.” Reportedly, the film is love triangle film set in the backdrop of India-Pakistan partition. The movie is produced by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala.
Fifteen years after Nayak: The Real Heroreleased, producer Deepak Mukut has joined hands with Eros International for a sequel the political thriller. According to Mumbai Mirror, K.V. Vijayendra Prasad, the writer of two of the biggest blockbusters in recent times, Bajrangi Bhaijaan andBaahubali: The Beginning, has come on board to pen the sequel, and should complete scripting it within two to three months. Confirming the news, Mukut was quoted saying, “I have bought the rights from AM Rathnam, the original producer. The sequel will be a political satire with romance as the backdrop. It will take off from where the original one left, but with a completely different story. Some characters, like the lead, Shivaji Rao, will be retained.” Nayak starred Anil Kapoor and Rani Mukherji, and revolved around a journalist, Shivaji Rao, who takes on a challenge posed by the chief minister of Maharashtra (played by the late Amrish Puri), to run the state for a day, and the subsequent consequences of his decision. Mukut neither confirmed nor denied if any of the original cast members would be approached for the sequel. Elaborating on the same, he said, “We are yet to take a call on the casting or the director. It'll only happen once the final script is ready. We'd love to have Anil on board if the script demands it.”
It had been in the rumours recently that a sequel to the Aamir – Salman starrer cult comedy Andaaz Apna Apna is in the pipeline. Phantom Films have already bagged the rights, and are planning the sequel with a new Amar and Prem. The new film will not take off from where plot ended last, but it will have an altogether different storyline. Although the new makers have decided on a new avatar for the lead characters, Aamir Khan however seems more than eager to work with Salman on the sequel. As per a report by bollywoodlife, the actor was quoted saying, “I would love to do the film with Salman if the script is good. I hope to work with him soon. The right script has to come up.” Salman Khan however, had a different opinion. Previously during the promotions of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, he had said, “We would love to do a film together. Today they (producers) can’t afford to make a film with one Khan. No one can afford to do a film with all three of us.” Going by what a hilarious movie it was and the fact that it was the only movie for which these Khans had come together, we definitely will be happy if they re-create the moments all over again.
