RECORD BREAKING COLLECTION IN CHENNAI FOR KABALI

According to Behindwoods box office analysis wing, Superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali has grossed an estimated 3.49 crores at the Chennai city box office from its first 3 days. This is a record breaking opening figure considering the size of Chennai city.

Kabali had a massive 942 weekend shows in Chennai which is almost twice the opening of other big releases. To have achieved such a box office collection from a non-festive release window is something spectacular. This clearly shows the extraordinary pull that Superstar has on his audience.

Let’s see how the film performs from here!

While millions of his ardent fans and trade circles are relishing the Kabali storm, Super Star Rajinikanth, who has been away from all the action surrounding his latest release and was enjoying a much needed holiday in the US, has finally returned to Chennai yesterday evening to join the celebrations.

Rajini was accompanied by his daughter Aishwarya Dhanush. The Super Star was given a grand welcom by hundreds of his elated fans at the airport. Rajini is expected to make a statement about Kabali in a day or two.

The legendary Super Star will soon resume shooting for the much awaited visual wonder, 2.0, in Shankar’s direction.

Kabali has smashed the NETT figures of Sultan for the first weekend which means its a new record in terms of nett collections. Sultan had set a new record with 105.50 crore nett and Kabali has surpassed by around 4 crore nett though is a three language release. In terms of GROSS it will not be a record as the business coming from Tamil Nadu is tax free and even in other states like Nizam / Andhra, Karnataka and Kerala the tax is lower than most Hindi film circuits. The collections say a drop after day one but that is the trend for most big films ins the South. The apprx all India breakdown for the first weekend nett collections of Kabali are as follows.






Tamil Nadu - 48,00,00,000

Nizam / Andhra - 20,25,00,000

Mysore / Kanataka - 16,50,00,000

Kerala - 8,50,00,000

Rest Of India - 16,00,00,000 (This includes not only Hindi but Tamil and Telugu playing outside South India)



GRAND TOTAL - 109,25,00,000



The apprx daily breakdown was 46 crore nett, 31 crore nett and 32.25 crore nett. The collections are extraordinary and it looks on course to be the biggest Tamil in film in the history of that industry. The Gross collections of India and Worldwide (as Overseas is fantastic) will be compiled later to see where this one man driven film stands against the big films of Indian cinema.
