The ‘Baby’ duo are set to reunite for another espionage operation.

Taapsee Pannu began shooting for Shivam Nair’s Naam Shabana in Mumbai a day after Shoojit Sircar’s Pink opened in the theatres on September 16. Four weeks later the film is still packing in the crowds and the 29-year-old actress who plays the spunky Minal Arora in the courtroom drama couldn’t be happier. But she’s not resting on past laurels and has been training in three different forms of martial arts — krav maga, aikido and mixed martial arts — with her trainer, Mehul Vohra and his subordinate, Jatin, for the action thriller.

Interestingly, they have been appointed by her Baby co-star, Akshay Kumar, who makes a cameo appearance in this film.

“I’m looking forward to some great action in Naam Shabana which is a part of the Baby franchise and Shabana is an extension of my Baby character. Except for the days when I am busy with other commitments, I train in these three forms of martial arts every day for an hour-and-a-half even though I don’t like hitting anyone,” says Taapsee who had earlier trained in krav maga for her undercover agent role in Baby. “I’m back to it now, along with aikido which is important to the story. And the combat techniques of mixed martial arts look good on screen.”

She’s on a mission with Akshay, Anupam Kher and Danny Denzongpa who are returning in their original avatars for special appearances. Manoj Bajpayee and south actor Prithviraj will also play pivotal roles.

“People wanted to see more of me in Baby and this film was offered to me a month after it’s release. But I hadn’t believed on it until we began shooting,” informs Taapsee who will kickstart shooting the second schedule in Malaysia from October 12 with Akshay. “I’m not sure if we’ll be filming any action scenes together since Akshay will only be there for a few days. But I’ll be shooting several handto-hand combat scenes during the fortnight. Shabana’s diametrically opposite to Taapsee but I’m having a lot of fun with her.”
