For years, fans have been clamoring for the planned spinoffs of blockbuster horror franchises such as James Wan and Leigh Whannell’s "Saw," Victor Salva’s "Jeepers Creepers," and Don Mancini’s "Chucky," of his Child’s Play series. Luckily, the long wait is finally over as two of the franchises are set to release their respective spin-offs in time for Halloween 2017.

Halloween is indeed a great time to binge for horror movies. So, let’s delve deeper into the upcoming spinoffs of some horror franchises that have haunted a lot of fans for years and will be haunting them again soon.

'Jeepers Creepers' 3
Apart from "Annabelle: Creation" and Stephen King’s "It," horror fanatics will surely be delighted over the upcoming releases of highly anticipated horror flicks, "Jeepers Creepers 3," "#Saw 8: Jigsaw," and "#Cult Of Chucky."Even though the release date for the third installment of Jeepers Creepers has yet to be announced, the spinoff will reportedly focus on present-day Trish Jenner (Gina Philips) as she joins the Taggarts from the previous sequel to kill the winged mythical corn field creature called "The Creeper, "who is notorious for his 23-day hunting and feeding frenzy.
Rumors have it that the storyline for Salva’s "#Jeepers Creepers 3" will fall between the events of its two predecessors. The upcoming spin-off, which will follow a group of hunters led by Meg Foster, will take place after the first movie but before the events of its second installment.
Cult of Chucky'
The seventh installment of Don Mancini’s Child’s Play franchise titled, "Cult of Chucky," will be interesting as it brings the element of craziness into the sequel. The sequel’s plot follows Nica Pierce’s asylum confinement and the series of gory deaths in the asylum.

For the cast of the upcoming sequel, Brad Dourif is reprising his role as Chucky while his daughter Fiona will play the role of Nica Pierce. Jennifer Tilly is also making a comeback as Chucky’s bride Tiffany, as well as Summer H.

'Saw 8: Jigsaw'
After six long years, the eighth installment of "Saw" is finally coming out this year. Saw, the brainchild of "The Conjuring” director James Wan and “Insidious” creator Leigh Whannell, was hailed as the “Most Successful Horror Franchise” that grossed more than $800 million.

Currently in post-production, the upcoming psychological horror film sequel "Saw 8: Jigsaw" will follow a murder investigation after victims are brutally killed around the city. What’s really mind-boggling is that the evidence hints the ruthless deeds of serial killer John Kramer aka Jigsaw, who has been dead for 10 years.

Directed by Peter and Michael Spierig, the highly anticipated "Saw" spinoff also features Tobin Bell as he reprises his role as Jigsaw. Other casts include James Gomez, Michael Boisvert, Shaquan Lewis, Josiah Black, Hannah Emily Anderson, Matt Passmore, Mandela Van Peebles, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen and Callum Keith Rennie.

"Saw 8: Jigsaw" will hit the theaters in the U.S. on Oct. 27. But for fans in the U.K., the spinoff will premiere on Oct. 20.
Also joining the ensemble of the cast are Grace Lynn Kung, Zak Santiago and Michael Therriault while Don Mancini remains the sequel’s writer and director.

Despite the rumors that the seventh Chucky installment is a remake, it's not. Instead, it answers the cliffhanging mysteries from the three previous films.

As for its release date, "Cult of Chucky" (unrated version) will be released on Oct. 3 on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital HD in the U.S. only.

Stan Shaw is set to star in “Jeepers Creepers 3.”

The original “Jeepers Creepers” was released in 2001, followed by a sequel, “Jeepers Creepers 2,” in 2003. The two movies centered on an ancient creature, known as “the Creeper,” which hunts for 23 days every 23rd spring for human body parts and organs. Myriad Pictures will finance the threequel.

“Jeepers Creepers 3” reunites the original creative team behind the first two films, including writer-director Victor Salva. Jonathan Breck will reprise his role as the Creeper and Brandon Smith returns as Sergeant Davis Tubbs.

Shaw plays the sheriff who is currently hunting the creature.

Francis Ford Coppola’s American Zoetrope, which produced the first two films, will co-produce along with Kirk Shaw and Surai Gohill’s Odyssey Media, and Stan Spry’s The Cartel. Coppola, Shaw and Spry will serve as producers and Myriad’s Kirk D’Amico will executive produce.






Shaw’s past credits include “Rocky” and “Snake Eyes.”

It has been well over a decade since the Jeepers Creepers franchise last graced the silver screen, and that is too long if you ask us. The horror franchise has become one of the most utterly terrifying series in the genre, and fans have demanded a sequel ever since the credits rolled on Jeepers Creepers 2 in 2003. We have received some conflicting reports about where and when Jeepers Creepers 3 will take place, but now it seems that the third entry in the beloved franchise will fall between the events of the first two films.

Rumors associated with the Jeepers Creepers franchise have been a dime a dozen in recent months, but the latest reports finally provide a decent timeline placement for Jeepers Creepers 3. Instead of taking place after the second film, Jeepers Creepers 3 will apparently take place between the events of the first and second movies in the series -- not unlike how Alien: Covenant bridges Prometheus with Ridley Scott's original 1979 Alien film. Based on this rumor, it seems that the next film in the series will take place shortly after the first film's conclusion, and center on a group of hunters on a mission to stop the Creeper's reign of terror. Because the Creeper is still very much around to cause mayhem during the events of the second film in the series, it seems highly unlikely that this group of hunters will succeed in their mission to kill this iconic monster.

News related to Jeepers Creepers 3 has also suggested that it will set up a fourth film that will bring the continuity of the franchise full circle. Bringing the focus back to Gina Philips' Trish Jenner in the present day, the rumored fourth film will follow her as she teams up with the Taggarts from Jeepers Creepers 2 in order to take down the Creeper once and for all.


If we are to believe these rumors from Bloody Disgusting about the future of the Jeepers Creepers franchise, then there's quite a bit to get excited about here. The concept behind the third film is already enticing, but the prospect of a planned fourth film that will directly tie back into the story of Trish Jenner is incredibly exciting. This shows a degree of forethought and adherence to continuity that's not often seen in modern horror franchises, so our hope remains high that we may actually see a proper arc play out over the next two films.

The Creeper has found someone new to terrorize.

Brandon Stacy has been cast in Jeepers Creepers 3, the long-awaited third installment of writer-director Victor Salva’s cult horror series. Stacy will play Miller, a deputy who in his off-hours leads a band of people on the hunt for the Creeper.

The original 2001 movie starred Justin Long and Gina Philips as a brother and sister who run across a creature known as the Creeper, who feasts on body parts to make it part of its own. The sequel Jeepers Creepers 2 followed in 2003.

The third film sees Philips return as Trish, who now worries that years later, the Creeper (once again played by Jonathan Breck) will take her son, just as it did her brother. Her solution is to go after the Creeper herself. Stacy's credits include last year's Roots revival on History, as well as The Big Short and Terminator: Genisys. He also appears with Tom Cruise in Doug Liman’s upcoming American Made.

Jeepers Creepers 3 is currently filming in Baton Rouge, La.
