    Theri has gotten off to an incredible start at the TN box office. The first day gross of the film is around 13 crores, despite a really restricted release in the important Chengalpet territory. This is Vijay's career best TN opening, beating his Kaththi.

    After the expected drop on the 2nd day (a working Friday), the total 2 days TN gross is more than 20 crores. Had the film seen a proper full-fledged release, the total 2 days gross would have been 25 crores, say trade experts. The film is doing extraordinary business in the released Chengalpet multiplexes such as Mayajaal, AGS OMR, AGS Villivakkam and S2 Theyagaraja, with continuous houseful shows since release.

    After the expected gargantuan weekend, Theri needs to maintain the momentum in the days and weeks to come to become viable for all TN buyers as the costs involved are very high. But well begun is half the job done! Congrats to Vijay, Atlee, Thanu and team for a thunderous opening.
