The theatrical trailer of legendary director Mani Ratnam’s forthcoming romantic drama, Cheliyaa, was released by the master director and his long-time collaborator AR Rahman during a live event on Facebook this evening.



Going by his signature styled intense romance between the lead couple Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari and those gorgeous visuals canned by Ravi Varman that are complemented well by AR Rahman’s breezy soundtrack, one can surely say that Mani has recreated his magic yet again.

Karthi will be seen as an Indian Air Force officer, while Aditi is playing the role of a doctor. Cheliyaa is going to be released on April 7th. Dil Raju is releasing it in Telugu.

 

At a time when audiences are shoved on their throat imbecile and underage romances, here comes Mani Ratnam’s Kaatru Veliyidai where the people in love are mature adults and well educated too; Karthi, a pilot and Aditi Rao Hydari, a doctor, from what the trailer indicates.



The visuals of Ravi Varman and the BGM of AR Rahman amp the feel of the footage. It is a sleep walk for Karthi to portray a fun loving lad out to woo his lady love. His dialogue to Aditi reminds a scene of the same type in OK Kanmani. Aditi is outright gorgeous and the camera angles and lighting accentuate it.



Looks like it is just not light-hearted romance and there appear to be some sort of heavy duty emotions too.



In all, the trailer of Kaatru Veliyidai has made it restless for the audience and given a feel that a month is too far off. The count-down begins!

 

The trailer of one of the most expected films of the year, 'Kaatru Veliyidai' has released today and it has quite well captured the imagination of fans of the ace director Mani Ratnam.

The film is touted to be a romance set in Kashmir with the hero playing a pilot and the heroine a doctor. The trailer establishes the lead characters and the romance between them in the snowy and warm locations of Kashmir in unique Mani Ratnam style.

As usual the visuals are superlative and the quality that one would expect from a Mani Ratnam outing is simply intact. Ravi Varman who has collaborated with Mani for the first time has given his best and here there are extra special reasons to celebrate the visuals as the film is set in a less known land for Tamil film audience.

Karthi with a clean shaven face lad, looks fit and much younger and his delivery of romance as well as emotional dialogues make us expect yet another delectable performance from him. Aditi Rao Hydari who makes her debut with this films looks her part and her expressions fit the requirement. Only these two are the known actors to have appeared in the trailer. May be the director wishes to keep the role and getup of RJ Balaji and others as a surprise.

A.R.Rahman's bgm enhances the feel of youthfulness of the film that the trailer intends to convey.

The objective of the trailer seems to be conveying that it is a pure romance flick and Mani Ratnam strongly registers that with his signature ingredients such as rich visuals, sharp dialogues and great music.
