Maanagaram was one of the hit movies of 2017. The action thriller which was directed by debutant Lokesh Kanagaraj released in March. It starred Sundeep Kishan, Sri and Regina Cassandra in the lead roles.


Soon after the film’s release, its producer SR Prabhu roped in Lokesh for another movie under his banner. Now, it looks like the flick has taken its shape and the makers are currently busy in the scripting process which we have heard is going on for the past few months. The latest scoop that we have been hearing is that Karthi will play the male lead.


“Lokesh is penning an intense action flick with Karthi in his mind. He has been in touch with the Kaatru Veliyidai actor for a while, but is yet to narrate the script. Since SR Prabhu shares a great rapport with Karthi, the project will most likely be finalised in a couple of months,” revealed a source close to the team. An official confirmation regarding the same will be made once the agreement is signed.

There were reports in various media houses that Maanagaram director Lokesh Kanagaraj is in talks with actor Karthi for a film. However, in an earlier Twitter interaction, the film's producer SR Prabhu had promised that he will not force Lokesh to work with big heroes. Sources close to Lokesh Kanagaraj also say that the director is yet to complete the script work and he hasn't even met Karthi so all the reports which are doing the rounds are baseless. Once Lokesh completes his script, he will narrate it to to SR Prabhu and SR Prakash Babu, who will then decide on how to take the project forward.
Karthi is currently busy with Theeran Adhigaram Ondru and from July, he will begin shooting for Prabhu Deva's Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja with Vishal
