No, Hrithik Roshan has not replaced Ranveer Singh in Padmavati

The actor rubbishes talks of having ousted Ranveer Singh from SLB’s next.


The curiously twisted reports of Hrithik Roshan replacing Ranveer Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Rani 'Padmavati' has the former bewildered, amused and annoyed.

Hrithik, who is busy with preparations for his home production 'Kaabil', wanted to make himself heard on the matter.

The actor said, “These reports are utterly false and baseless. Why would I be looking at replacing any actor? I’d love to work with Sanjay Bhansali again after 'Guzaarish'. But sorry, this is just someone’s imagination.”

Incidentally, Bhansali was very keen that Hrithik do 'Bajirao Mastani' but the actor opted for Mohenjo Daro instead.

“SLB was adamant that Hrithik play Bajirao. But Hrithik was already doing a period film with Ashutosh (Gowariker) and he didn’t want to do two costume dramas simultaneously. Since he was committed to Mohenjo Daro, he regretfully turned down Bajirao Mastani,” a source revealed.

Regarding the rumours of Ranveer’s ouster from Rani Padmavati, a source from Sanjay Leela Bhansali productions confirmed that those are untrue.

“It is Ranveer who will play Allauddin Khilji in Rani Padmavati. We don’t know where these rumours of Mr Bhansali being upset with Ranveer are coming from,” said the source.

Of late few pics of Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor has gone viral; and sources claim that their looks are from that of their upcoming film 'Padmavati'. The handsome actors are sporting beard and their styling apparently hints being pre-historic.

In one of the pics, Ranveer has Kohl-eyes and sources believe that it is for his character, Sultan Alauddin Khilji in 'Padmavati'.



Similarly Shahid is seen in bearded look with well-groomed mustache.

Being directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, 'Padmavati' is is based on the life of Queen of Chittor, her husband Rana Ratansen and Sultan Alauddin Khilji’s onsession with her. History has it that Maharani Padmavati sacrificed her life for the self-esteem of Chittorgarh. Along with 1,600 other queens, she died of self-immolation when Alauddin Khilji had attacked Chittorgarh.

Shahid Kapoor has started shooting for filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film 'Padmavati'.

Shahid on Thursday shared on Twitter a photograph of himself sporting a beard. "Day 1. 'Padmavati' wish me luck guys," Shahid captioned the image.

The period drama, which also features Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, stars Shahid as Raja Ratan Singh.

Ranveer will be seen essaying the role of Alauddin Khilji, the medieval-era Delhi sultan, who is enamoured of Padmavati.

 

Aditi Rao Hydari says working with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a dream for any actor.

"I would like to say that it is any actor's dream to work with a director like Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He is an amazing director and it's also my dream to work with him," she said.

Aditi was speaking at the Brand Vision Summit 2016 event. "His work is infectious and passionate. That is what we all live for. To have passion in your work and to be inspired, to be able to respect somebody. I really have that utmost respect for him," she said.

The 'Wazir' actress has reportedly been approached for the role of Ranveer Singh's wife in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's historical drama 'Padmavati'. When asked about that, Aditi smiled and said: "I am not going to answer that question."

"However, it would be amazing to work with Ranveer. We started seven years ago with Shaad Ali. We were both jobless then," She recalled.

The historical drama stars Deepika Padukone in the lead role as Rani Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor as her husband Raja Ratan Singh, and Ranveer Singh as Sultan Alauddin Khilji.
