    Movie : JOLLY LLB 2

Cast : Akshay Kumar, Huma Qureshi , Annu Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla and Arshad Warsi (cameo)

Produced by : Fox Star Studios
    Writer-Director : Subhash Kapoor

    Rating : ***1/2

    Story :
Subhash kapoor and Akshay Kumar brought us a sequel to 2013 National Award winning film Jolly LLB which was also a commercial success. I will not waste this space to focus deeply on story as it is good to watch on a big screen only. But just to give you a brief idea, Jolly LLB 2 is a story of a struggling small-town lawyer, Jagdishwar Mishra aka Jolly, who takes on a murder case and finds himself in the center of an elaborate police cover-up. Akshay plays a lawyer who is corrupt and is only looking for ways to make quick money. However, eventually he tumbles upon a case that threatens his mere existence and that’s where the story begins. Will he stand up for justice or will he bow down to the many bullies who are ready to pull the trigger the minute he decides to set out for justice?
For answers to all these questions you’d better visit theaters near you.

I’m happy to note that Akshay Kumar’s satirical courtroom drama has its heart in the right place. Now such premise of fake encounters (One that Jolly LLB2 has) has constantly provided fodder for Bollywood gangster thrillers, but director Subhash Kapoor gives it a legal spin here. And the protagonist that is Akshay Kumar is introduced as a crafty lawyer with questionable scruples. But like all good things in films , there are some bad things too. Especially a slow paced second half. But thanks to directors fast paced but genuine and intelligently handled last 20 minutes’ part. Film slows down only to pick up again in pre-climax.

But the most important thing about film is , it fulfills your expectations.Yes. It gives you what you expect from an Akshay Kumar starer that is ENTERTAINMENT .
Subhash Kapoor’s courtroom drama entertains you and lives in your mind for though not long but for some time. You won’t regret and You’ll leave the theaters with a smile on your face.

What’s Good : Story , Performances , Dialogues ,Comic scenes , Entertaining One liners, and Climax

What’s Bad : Slow paced second half and Absence of a chart buster song.

Watch or Not : Definitely watch Jolly LLB 2 for its high entertainment quotient and solid performance by Akshay Kumar, Annu Kapoor and Saurbh Shukla.

It has SUPER HIT written all over it.It will keep Happy and smiling each and everyone concerned. Sure Shot WINNER !Take your families to theaters and enjoy the film. I’m going with three and a half out of 5 star for Jolly LLB 2.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar plays a lawyer first time on screen and does a fantastic job. Set in Lucknow, popularly known as the city of Nawabs in India, the movie that the actor and the team wrapped up in just about month is beautifully made with every nuance of characters and details subtly portrayed. The drama unfolds the story of a small-time, struggling lawyer Jagdishwar Mishra aka Jolly who has shifted base from Kanpur to the city of Nawabs to establish himself as a big-time lawyer. When Jolly commits a mistake with irreversible consequences, he doesn’t give up until he fixes the mistake he once committed.
A sequel to the 2013 film, Jolly LLB, starring Bollywood actors Boman Irani and Arshad Warsi. this court-room set in the backdrop of a court-room in Lucknow addresses some perennial issues of the Indian judicial system in a tight narrative. Through the proceedings, the drama questions many age-old practices of the Indian judiciary system and its loopholes besides the scarcity of qualified lawyers directly proportionate to the pending cases that exist. In a creative way, the filmmaker has added fun elements that may look like a mockery of the judicial system.
What’s striking is that even though the drama traverses through tension, gunshots and malicious intentions of one corrupt cop, the sense of humor and comedy have been quite intelligently inserted by the director Subash Kapoor that is certainly praiseworthy.
While Akshay Kumar shoulders the drama, the performances of the defense lawyer played by Annu Kapoor and the judge (Saurabh Shukla) are equally terrific. While Saurabh Shukla adds the fun bit, yet in a humourous way inside a court-room, Annu Kapoor’s facial expressions are hard to miss.
Huma Qureshi (Gangs of Wasseypur fame) makes for a lovely on-screen pair opposite Akshay Kumar. Her unassuming acting skills, in a way, compliment the pace of Lucknow where the majority of the film is set against.
The film's music has been received well. 'Bawra Mann' song, sung by Jubin Nautiyal and Neeti Mohan is one soulful track which is perfectly timed in the film.
It has come out better than the first Jolly LL.B with Akshay Kumar’s earnest performance. Jolly LL.B 2 has entertainment, music and most importantly a narrative with a proper Bollywood style climax, which will set your mood for the weekend.
    Dstrip rating for Jolly LL.B 2: 4/5

Jolly LLB 2 movie review: Akshay Kumar is right man for the job

Jolly LLB 2 movie review: Akshay Kumar again delivers an entertainer with a message embedded firmly in it. This time, he fights for the cause of justice.

Jolly LLB 2 movie director: Subhash Kapoor
Jolly LLB 1 or Jolly LLB 2? Actually, let us simplify it for you — Arshad Warsi’s lawyer with a questionable moral code or Akshay Kumar’s take on the same but with double the star power? Akshay, probably the most prolific actor of our times, is back with his first film of the year and February has just about kicked in. Not one to let grass grow under his feet (and the fact that he has three more films lined up for the year), Akshay has released the second iteration of this legal drama already. To cut to the chase, Akshay plays a small-town lawyer Jagdeeshwar Mishra aka Jolly who believes money is the answer to all world’s ills. He would go to any length and do any jugaad to win a case.

The two thorns in his side are Judge Tripathi (Saurabh Shukla, as entertaining as always) and lawyer Mathur (Annu Kapoor in the middle of a crotchety performance). And then there are those jugaads. Thanks to his own machinations, Jolly gets stuck in a particularly sticky case, which will nudge his good side. Before it gets over, we will travel from the heart of north India to Jammu and Kashmir and justice will be served.
What keeps you going is the realistic sparring between the lawyers, the portrayal of lower courts to India which is true to form and good performances. It was the USP of Subhash Kapoor’s Jolly LLB and the director focuses on it again as he makes the second film. Watch out for Akshay as he plays the underdog who is there to right the wrongs. The music of the film has failed to evoke interest but then, it is a legal drama, right?

Akshay has made entertainers with a message as his hallmark. Whether it was Rustom or Airlift, the films portrayed the star as an everyman who never goes against the system but still ensures justice is done. Jolly LLB 2 is a big step in the same direction

Jolly LLB 2 movie review: Akshay Kumar powers this courtroom drama that is funny as well as tragic

Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 2 is out now. A sequel to Arshad Warsi’s Jolly LLB, this too is comedic in temperament but gets serious when it has to. Read our movie review here:

Akshay Kumar’s comic timing is the backbone of this story.(YouTube)

Films demand good researches when they are based on the theme of corruption in Indian judiciary, and Jolly LLB 2 scores well on this front. Akshay Kumar’s biggest challenge in this film is to match up to the expectations that the audience has with the franchise.
The first instalment had Arshad Warsi as Jagdish Tyagi and he carried the entire film on his shoulder. His friendly courtroom banter with justice Sunderlal Tripathi (Surabh Shukla) is still fresh in our memory. So, when we meet Jagdishwar Mishra (Akshay Kumar), the new Jolly, the first question that comes to our mind is: Has director Subhash Kapoor found a worthy successor in Akshay Kumar?

Yes, Akshay’s ‘jolly’ self is impressive. He thinks he is shrewd, but is confused. Most of his antics backfire and he is still in search of a big break. His wife, Pushpa (Huma Qureshi), enjoys her alcohol and tries to instil some sense into Jolly’s mind, but all in vain. Jolly isn’t ready to change. His motto: A good life is all about money.

He has a nemesis in Justice Tripathi (Saurabh Shukla reprising his role from the first film). His colleague Mathur (Annu Kapoor) is another hurdle Jolly faces at work.

The film changes its tone from here on and becomes a commentary on the Indian judicial system. But, this is just a beginning for Jolly. His fight against the mighty and corrupt will take him to unknown places and dreaded people. It’s tragic and funny at the same time.
Akshay Kumar’s comic timing is the backbone of this story. His dialect, theatrics, dialogues, everything is spot on, but he is yet to deliver a powerful speech like Arshad Warsi.
With a fantastic support cast like Saurabh Shukla, Annu Kapoor and Inamul Haq, Jolly LLB 2 looks like a winner. Director Subhash is clearly in command of a story that seems to have a well written screenplay.

    TIMES OF INDIA REVIEW
JOLLY LLB 2 REVIEW: On the face of it, apna Jolly is a novice indulging in petty crimes because he knows the loopholes in the law. At home, he is the hen-pecked husband of lush, Pushpa Panday(Huma) who loves whisky, Gucci dresses and her chubby son in that order. But these are just asides and not the main premise of courtroom drama, which in many ways follows the template of the 2013 prequel, Jolly LLB.

Writer-director Subhash Kapoor who has studied India’s burgeoning legal system of `I-will-see-you-in-court’, definitely knows as much about the Indian Penal Code as most legal sharks because of his deep study of the subject. While the last instalment dealt with a hit-n-run case, this one deals with the case of mistaken identity of a J & K terrorist. The plot has enough laugh-out-loud situations and emotional outbursts to keep you invested especially in the razor-sharp first half. The film also provides the right dose of action inside and outside the courtroom. With cops playing villains and terrorists changing religions, legal greenhorn Jolly finds himself dodging bullets in Kanpur, Lucknow and Manali(doubling up for Kashmir.)

Post interval though, the film hits a pause button at times. The maker tries to pack in too much legal diatribe between Jolly and his adversary, the topnotch, Pramod Mathur(Annu Kapoor), in Judge Tripathy’s (Saurabh Shukla, delightful as always) Lucknow courtroom. Their weighty arguments do educate and entertain to some degree. But there are portions that seem contrived.

Akshay changes shades from crooked to straight, like a chameleon. In top-form, he puts up a perfect display of a street-smart lawyer who hasn’t read legal tomes but who has instead picked up tips from courtroom corridors to become Jolly LLB. Huma and Annu are also compelling enough. It is the fine display of histrionics by all these refined actors, which makes the movie, worth seeing.
