Fresh off the success of Idhu Namma Aalu, actor Silambarasan aka Simbu might star in the reboot of Billa, the sensational film popularized by superstar Rajinikanth and then Thala Ajith Kumar. In a recent interview, Simbu revealed that filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon had approached him with a script very similar to Billa around the time they made Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya (VTV), and the project was titled Surangani. Although Gautham was kicked about making Surangani with Simbu, the latter suggested that they work on VTV and the decision worked in their favour. Six years since the release of VTV, Simbu has hinted that he might finally star in a script about the rise of a don. In an interaction with his fans over the weekend, Simbu confirmed that he will star in the reboot of Billa. He also reiterated the same during a Twitter conversation with filmmaker Venkat Prabhu, and going by their chat, the duo will collaborate for the project. #Billa2018 started trending and fans went gaga over the announcement. It has to be seen whether the project will really materialize, given Simbu’s bad luck with his projects lately. The actor currently awaits the release of Gautham Vasudev Menon-directed Achcham Yenbathu Madamaiyada, while shooting for Adhik Ravichandran-directed ‘Anbaanavan, Asaraathavan, Adangaathavan’.

The actor shared his happiness, and at the same time had some interesting tidbits to quote on his upcoming films. One of the most surprising ones came when STR said that he would be reprising the Billa character played by Rajinikanth and Ajith very soon. The actor said that he would be playing the role of the classy don in one of his next projects lined up on slate. STR's immediate next film would be Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangathavan, which would go on floors once he completes his ongoing break.

Currently awaiting the release of Tamil romantic-thriller Achcham Yenbathu Madamaiyada, Simbu is shooting for Adhik Ravichandran-directed actionerAnbaanavan, Asaraathavan, Adangaathavan. Meanwhile, Venkat Prabhu is busy directing his upcoming project, Chennai 600028 part 2. The sequel to his 2007 superhit movie, will have an ensemble cast of Siva, Premji Amaren, Vijayalakshmi, Vaibhav Reddy, Jai and Mahut among others.
