MASTER' AMASS ₹150 CRORE FROM INDIA IN SEVEN DAYS - DOMESTIC UPDATE :

Vijay starrer Master has amassed ₹150 crore in its first 7 days, or as many of you will say the “First Week” at Indian box office.



Before jumping to the analysis, following is the day wise and territorial business breakdown of Master;



Wednesday - ₹42 crore

Thursday - ₹25 crore

Friday - ₹22.5 crore

Saturday - ₹21.5 crore

Sunday - ₹20.5 crore

Monday - ₹10.5 crore

Tuesday - ₹8 crore



Tamil Nadu: ₹96.5 crore

AP/Nizam: ₹24 crore

Karnataka: ₹14.5 crore

Kerala: ₹10 crore

North India: ₹5 crore



Total India Gross - ₹150 crore



Thanks to a strong AP/Nizam filling the shortfall in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Master was able to close in at Bigil and actually beat Sarkar in its first 7 days gross, and is more than likely to overtake it in full run for becoming the biggest Vijay starrer in India. The film is already the actor's biggest grosser in AP/Nizam, beating his previous high of ₹21 crore by Bigil.



The film has emerged as a profitable venture for all but Tamil Nadu and North India distributors. In Tamil Nadu, they will hit the recovery in the next few days, while North India may take some time.

 

MASTER' NEARS ₹100 CRORE IN TAMIL NADU - TOP 10 '7-DAYS' GROSSERS :

The harvest festival is over but not for Master as the film continued in the weekdays with strong numbers in Tamil Nadu.



Grossing ₹84 crore from its extended weekend, Master yielded the biggest non-holiday Day 6 & 7 on its first Monday and Tuesday, beating the previous high of Baahubali: The Conclusion, for a total of ₹96.5 crore Approx. The film had dropped in collection on Tuesday, as ticket prices came down, but occupancies remain strong.



Following are the top 7-Day Gross in Tamil Nadu,

Sarkar - ₹102.05 crore
Bigil - ₹101.10 crore
Master - ₹ 96.50 crore Approx
Mersal - ₹89 crore
Viswasam - ₹67.2 crore
Baahubali The Conclusion - ₹67 crore
2.0 - ₹66 crore
Petta - ₹58.3 crore
Darbar - ₹54.5 crore
Vedalam - ₹53 crore





The movie stands at number three in the list, but that's not telling the full picture. The difference between Sarkar and Bigil with Master is the performance in Urban centres, mainly multiplexes, especially in metropolitan regions which comes under City and Chengalpat territory, where the film is hurt by the restricted capacity. Elsewhere in Tamil Nadu the numbers are the biggest ever for 7 days. With a normal release situation, the movie was looking at 7 days gross of maybe ₹110 crore.


Vijay has the top four films in the above list, with his nearest competitor in Tamil Nadu, Ajith not getting a major solo release in the last three years. That should change this year, with Valimai looking to open in August. With COVID situation improving by then, we can hope for ₹100 crore plus 7 days in Tamil Nadu for Non-Vijay film.
