Ever since Sam Mendes, the director of the last two James Bond flicks ‘Skyfall’ and ‘Spectre’ announced that he will not be returning for the next film in the franchise there have been heavy speculations as to who would helm the project scheduled for a 2018 release. The Gaurdian has reported that Susanne Bier has been shortlisted along with a few others. Bier has found great success with her BBC spy series ‘The Night Manager’ starring Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston. It is worth noting that Tom Hiddleston is a frontrunner for the role of Bond after Daniel Craig hinted that he may not be asking for his "shaken but not stirred martinis" anymore. Whether Susanne Bier would become the first woman to direct 007 is completely in the hands of producer Barbara Broccolli who will also decide who the next Bond would be.
The fifth installment in the ‘Transformers’ series ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ directed by Michael Bay will start shooting in June having June 23rd 2017 as the release date in 3D, RealD 3D, IMAX 3D, and 2D. Mark Wahlberg, Isabela Moner,Josh Duhamel and Jerrod Carmichael are in the cast with Peter Cullen voicing Optimus Prime. Michael Bay has just revealed that the main villain of ‘Transformers: The Last Night’ would be Megatron with a new makeover. In all the four previous films Megatron has been a negative character of various shades and in the fourth his head was severed but his brain was downloaded into the body of another autobot Galvatron. This will be the last film in the franchise that Michael Bay would direct and looks like we can expect a grand spectacle of battles between Optimus Prime and Megatron/Galvatron.

Two companies in the country have been manufacturing the swords, helmets and armour that we see in many of the popular Hollywood movies and TV shows today. Do you know that Hollywood's iconic characters -right from the Starks of Game Of Thrones to the Stark of the Iron Man series -have an In dian connection? Whether it's Arya Stark's sword Needle or Jon Snow's Night Watch ensem ble or Iron Man's helmet, it's all made in Dehradun! Yes,two of the steel industries operating in the country manufacture and supply props like swords, helmets, chain mail vests and other costumes to Hollywood. GAME OF THRONES, GLADIATOR AND MORE Established in 1940s,one of the companies is based outside Dehradun and specialises in manufacturing swords, sabres and other weapons to be used in fantasy period dramas and war films.They also have the licence to produce replicas of the props.Nimit Jain, production manager of the company , says, “We've been into this business for a long time now . We have supplied props to Game Of Thrones as well as other Hollywood movies and TV shows. We have also partnered with HBO and obtained a licence to produce replicas of these props including arms, armour and latex or foam swords.“He adds,“We have also supplied props to Hollywood movies like Gladiator , Rome, Spartacus, Harry Potter series, Star Wars series, Gone With The Wind and300.We have also manufactured replicas for most of Marvel movies such as Thor , Iron Man and X-Men, and have worked with top-notch Hollywood costume designers like April Ferry , who has designed costumes for films like Maverick, Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines and Jurassic World.“ The company has a production unit in the village Balawala industrial area, where the props are manufactured.Telling us more about GOT,Nimit adds,“We have the copyright to manufacture certain items for the show, like Jon Snow's Night Watch ensemble, his Longclaw Sword,Hand of The King Pin,crown of the Baratheons and Eddard Stark's ensemble.“ THEY GOT MAIL...CHAIN MAIL! Another company, which manufactures the weaponry for Hollywood, is also based in Dehradun.The company's managing director and a former Captain in the Indian Army , Capt. Saurabh Ma hajan, tells us, “I started this com pany in 2004. As I had retired from the Army then, I wanted to start a ven ture of my own and so I con ceived this idea of setting up a steel industry , and it ultimately led me to supplying props in Hollywood.“ The company has a manufacturing unit in Saharanpur where all the props are manufactured, and an office in Dehradun from where the sampling process takes place. Saurabh adds, “I clearly remember my first overseas order for a chain mail, for which I was paid $7,500.“ The company has been associated with the Game Of Thrones, especially season 4 and season 5.Saurabh says, “Apart from GOT, we have worked for other famous projects like The Hobbit, British fantasy-adventure TV show Merlin, TV series The Bastard Executioner and Russian film Kolovrat.“ Saurabh also talks about the number of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) he has to sign before signing a deal with such firms. “We have to sign a number of non-disclosure agreements with these companies before signing the deal.Imagine if Captain America's shield is leaked before the release of the movie! The filmmakers will lose billions of dollars, therefore strict confidentiality needs to be maintained,“ he tells us. BUT NO SUPPLIES TO INDIA Talking about the market in India, Saurabh says, “ A lot of business continues to go to the Czech Republic and Poland, as they have been perfecting the craft for years. But we can still compete with them because we have the price advantage.“ Sadly enough, none of these companies supply any such props in India. So for now, we can only hope to find one of the malls with an outlet selling Jon Snow's sword or Iron Man's suit to the Hollywood fans in India!
Justice League Movie Official Title Revealed By Geoff Johns On Friday, a big rumor hit about some potential titles for the first Justice League movie. The rumored titles included Justice League United, Justice League: Angels and Demons, Justice League: Gods Among Us, and Justice League: Gods Among Men. Considering that Batman V Superman was given the lengthy title Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, it would make sense that Warner Bros. might follow suit with the Justice League. However, it turns out that is not to be the case. On Friday night, Geoff Johns, the recently named co-chief of DC Films division, took to social media to dispel the rumors. Johns revealed that the Justice League movie will simply be called Justice League.
