Usain Bolt will be supporting Argentina at the World Cup and the Olympic great believes Lionel Messi can lead the nation to glory.

Argentina are considered among the contenders in Russia despite struggling through qualifying, although the likes of Brazil, Spain, Germany and France are more fancied to win the showpiece event.

Speaking Tuesday, Bolt said he would be supporting Messi and his team-mates as Argentina – drawn with Iceland, Croatia and Nigeria in Group D – look for a first World Cup crown since 1986.

"For me, I'm an Argentina fan," the eight-time Olympic champion said.

"I think we have a good chance if we play good, then we should have a good chance of making the finals and even winning.

"I'm looking forward to just watching the World Cup and seeing the great teams."

@MarkTwain angeru mmde aalu aarnu :D

Sacked spanish manager Lopetegui under their regime spain reinvented the game and was undefeated over the last 5 months admitted that he is a huge fan of FC Barcelona and catalans' argentine talisman Leo Messi.
Lopetegui has played for Real Madrid before, but he's also represented Barcelona. And his recent comments about Lionel Messi may not sit too well with the fans of his new club.
Speaking to Argentine network TyC , Lopetegui labelled Messi as "the best player of all time".His compliments are unlikely to sit well with Cristiano Ronaldo too, who, whether he likes it or not, is in a constant rivalry with the Barcelona star to be the best in the world. But it doesn't stop there, Lopetegui has also been talking about Messi in the build up to the World Cup and said: "
It's extremely unlikely that we'll see another player like him."Add both of those to what he also told 20 Minutos and Real Madrid fans will learn he's clearly a huge fan of the Barcelona star."He's made the difference in so many ways over a continuous period of time," he said, before adding it's "a joy to watch him play".In 2016 Lopetegui voted Messi for The Best FIFA Men's Player of 2016 award and said of the Barcelona and Argentina player, "I've never met a player like Leo Messi. I don't like to compare eras. I've never seen and nor do I think I will ever see someone with Messi's consistency," per Cadena Cope, translation courtesy of ESPN.
And just last November, he reiterated his belief that Messi is the best player in history, according to TyC Sports
    .
That is a decidedly different take from Ronaldo, who has proclaimed himself to be the greatest player in the history of the game, and who may not like his new coach appearing to favor his rival.
Lopetegui is also taking over the Real Madrid job at an awkward time with regards to Cristiano Ronaldo, who has cryptically hinted that he may be leaving the club soon.
Ronaldo may be 33-years-old, but he is still one of the greatest players in the world and the crown jewel of Real Madrid. Making sure he's happy and willing to stay at Real Madrid is sure to be one of the first things on Lopetegui's to-do list when he takes on his new job.

The universal appeal of the FIFA World Cup is reflected in all the hue and cry that is seen surrounding the tournament in nations which have no participation in the tournament and don't even stand a ghost of a chance of making it there in the near future. But superstars like Lionel Messi have millions of fans all around the world and a hashtag #VamosLeo, launched by his fan club, reflects messages from all over the world and the video also includes a clip from five youngsters from Kerala.

The five people in the video, according to the Times of India, are Arakkal Shajeeh Arakkal, Hasif Edappal, Shabeeb Morayur, Shareef Feroke and Adish Thrissur from Malappuram and Thrissur districts of Kerala.

"It was after noticing our posters and banners in support of Argentina players, in Instagram and Facebook, that admins of Messi's official FB page contacted us and they asked us to send a short video in the native language. They used only last portion of the video in their post," the newspaper quoted Shajeeh Arakkal as saying.

The FIFA World Cup begins on June 14, with hosts Russia taking on Saudi Arabia in the opening Group A match at Moscow.

Argentina play their first Group D match on June 16 against debutants Iceland at the Spartak Stadium in Moscow.

Ivan Rakitic has been talking all things World Cup 2018 and specifically about Lionel Messi as his Croatia team will face Argentina in Group D.

There’s a tedious argument that Messi can’t be regarded as the greatest player of all time unless he’s lifted the World Cup but Rakitic isn’t having any of it.

“Surely he deserves to win it for who he is. Football isn’t tennis: you can’t put Messi under pressure by saying he alone has to win the World Cup.

“He does deserve it but there are 32 countries with the same dream. If he wins it at the end, we will all be happy for him.

“However, his story is not going to change if he wins it or not. If you are the best, you are it independently of whether you win one or 50,000 titles. One World Cup will not change what Leo Messi means to football.”

    Source | Marca

Argentina open up their World Cup campaign against Iceland and then face Croatia and Rakitic on June 21st in Kaliningrad.
