HAPPY NEWS: AAA AND VANAMAGAN ISSUES SOLVED!


STR's Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan, which was facing release issues right from this morning, has officially cleared all the issues.

The film's director Adhik Ravichandran confirmed this with his tweet, "All Sorted out. #AAA1DFromToday in few mins . God thank u sai . Varrrrrroommmmm." The first show for AAA will now start from 11.30 AM throughout Tamil Nadu in all centers, as the issue has been cleared off.

Similarily, Jayam Ravi's Vanamagan, which had small issues with its first show, is now completely resolved and all schedules are on track and in fact the 11:30 show has already started. All the best to both the films.

I kept wondering at what sense the title made. Not that the other things did. The only logical conclusion I could come to was that the second 'A' in the title (Asaradhavan) refers to anyone in the audience who comes out unscathed from the film. The search for such a person could be never ending!!!

Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan review: Strictly for STR fans

First things first- Whoever came up with the terrific idea of getting Motta Rajendran to dub for the statutory warning against liquor and tobacco just before the movie starts, deserves a pat on the back. It kick-starts AAA 's idea of entertainment.

The film moves along harmlessly through its first half, with a few clever dialogues thrown in, and some pleasant chemistry between its male leads ( STR, Mahat, VTV Ganesh and Motta Rajendran). It is a film that makes no bones, no pretenses about the fact that it plays to the galleries and is packaged for STR fans. It is loud, dumb and silly. But that's the way it is designed.

STR in two roles performs earnestly and get a lot of moments to shine and mouth punch lines aplenty. He gets all the clever lines and does full justice to them, delivering them with such effortless ease that you are tempted to believe that he’s coming up with them on the spur of the moment. The gorgeous Shriya Saran sans any make-up impresses us in the first half. But greatest disservice is done to Tamannaah who has nothing to do other than lust behind an old man, say few corny dialogues and walk around in few itsy-bitsy clothes.

On the whole, AAA is a B-grade crowd-pleaser that knows exactly who its audience is. For die-hard fans of STR it is a treat. By the way, the film ends with a dialogue from STR that a part-2 is on the cards! Go in with modest expectations and perhaps you won’t come out dissatisfied.

Simbu, as expected gives an energetic performance as Madurai Michael, but his avatar as the much-hyped Ashwin thatha isn’t that convincing, thanks to the odd makeup applied on his face.

VTV Ganesh, Motta Rajendran and Mahat are adequate as Simbu’s aides in the film. Tamanaah oozes glamour in almost all the scene she appears and is a treat to watch. Yuvan Shankar Raja has once again provided peppy, fast-paced background score. But a confusing screenplay without proper connection between the past and present spoils the little fun the film offers. What starts as a supposedly mass masala entertainer which is tailor-made for fans, ends up as a below average fare, thanks to the unconvincing second half, clichéd dialogues and scenes about love failure. A suspense cameo towards the end makes things worse as the film, by then, makes one yawn unapologetically. A saving grace in the last few minutes was the inclusion of another character of STR, the story of which would be portrayed in the second instalment. But how many of us would be interested in taking that risk is the question. Go without any expectations. The film has 'Adhik stamp' written all over it.
