Haider (2014) This Vishal Bhardwaj masterpiece is as hard-hitting as it is compelling, with Shahid at his best. Haider is an experience that managed to sustain in my head for its emotional depth and audacious political approach. The intro scene of the bald headed Haider Yet another film that I watched again after a very long time !
Kannathil Muthamittal (2002) The most emotionally resonant film from the Master Craftsman - A true blue Maniratnam Classic
Udaan (2010) There are many reasons to love movies, from the stories they tell, to the beautiful characters who live and die for us. And yet the story in “Udaan” is blissfully simple: The coming-of-age of a 17 year old boy. This, along with the modesty of its physical production, its humble rooms, quiet moments, ordinary lives, can obscure Motwane's ambitions and the greatness of his achievement. The climactic sprinting scene is a triumph on its own - exhilarating, exciting and hauntingly memorable
Meri Pyaari Bindu (2017) From its music, to the old world Bengali charm and the nuanced writing, Meri Pyaari Bindu is a grossly underrated cinema. I genuinely feel it's one of those films that's gonna endure. Gem
The Lunchbox (2013) Ritesh Batra's debut feature has the leisurely pace and symphonic restraint of a romance from the 80's or 90's. The slow-burning relationship is handled with wit, charm and poignancy, but Batra and cinematographer Michael Simmonds also excel at imparting loneliness in a heaving metropolis. Heartwarming and whimsical, The Lunchbox is a delightful crowd-pleaser. This is a real charmer of a film Irffan Nimrat and Nawazuddin Watched it again after quite a long time
Thappad (2020) A bold film that slaps patriarchy in its face, by standing up for a seemingly 'trivial' incident, but one that leaves a lot of scars. The powerfully acted Thappad ranks among writer-director Anubhav Sinha's best works. Watched it again on Prime Video. Thappad is easily the finest film of 2020 ! Tapsee
Gauthamante Radham (2020) Surprisingly, it's a pretty decent flick. No baggage of expectations, bore adikkathe kandu theerkan pati. Cheriya kure nalla moments, relatable aaya theme koode aanu. Neeraj is effortless, ee type roles-inu okke apt aaya choice thanne aanu. Supporting cast-um nannayi.
Birbal (Kannada, 2019) Not an avid spectator of Kannada Cinema, but ee film interesting aanu. Till the last 15/20 minutes, it was just about a passable experience with sporadic thrills, but climax nannayitund. Basic plot is intriguing, but making inconsistent aanu apart from the finale, ending is pretty darn good. On the whole, it's an easy one time watch !!
Rajneeti (2010) With its large cast of characters and wealth of subplots, Prakash Jha's compelling portrait of a political family, is a solid drama. Written by Anjum Rajabali and Prakash Jha, Rajneeti sources as much from 'The Godfather' as it does from the 'Mahabharata'. The film is way too long and demands much patience on your part. But it's held up by a string of credible performances. Ranbir as Samar Pratap stands out from the towering cast with the most poised performance. Rajneeti is all about Samar and Ranbir has certainly carried off the chameleon-skinned character well, he effortlessly owns the film. Deliciously dramatic and packed with sinister twists and turns, Rajneeti is gripping for the most part. Ranbir Watched it again after a long time !
Maska (Netflix) It follows the template of countless feel-good dramedies, nonetheless, the delightful irani cuisine and a couple of endearing moments make it a good experience. Manisha Koirala's Parsi dialect was kinda overdone
