This movie will make you wonder about the choices we make in our daily lives and how it may have an impact...how our lives end up...how every path leads to a different future...how our lives have infinite possibilities. Its ath the same time a disturbingly sad and a feel good movie. Jared leto gives a once in a lifetime performance in this. Watch it if you have a sense of wonder about how small choices in life spiral out to infinite possibilities.
Rigor Mortis A washed up actor moves into a crumbling apartment complex in the beginning of this Chinese supernatural curiosity.There are many spirits lurking throughout the complex,a black magic practitioner and a former vampire hunter are among the people who live there.The movie is very beautiful to look at.The effects are pretty solid and the performances are good.It is not exactly a 'scary movie',feels more like a homage to the horror genre.Genre fans will like this little oddity.Even if you are not into horror you will love the way it is shot.There is some blood and violence in it.If you are not putt off by such things watch this My Rating:8/10
Prisoners Two girls have gone missing in broad daylight.The police arrest a guy in whose vehicle was seen in the neighbourhood.They are forced to release him due to lack of evidence.One of the girls' father(Hugh Jackman) is convinced that he is responsible and he is willing to do anything find his daughter.Meanwhile a tenacious detective (Jake Gyllenhall) is piecing together the mystery. Prisoners is a well made film which maintains tension throughout.Performances are good and the direction and cinematography are brilliant.A must see movie in my humble opinion. Rating:9/10
Faults A clever little thriller that will certainly appeal to those who like something 'weird'.It is better to watch this without knowing much.Our protagonist is a man who is an expert in cults.He is not doing very well at the moment though.A couple contact him to help them with their daughter who has been brainwashed by a cult called 'Faults'.I won't further spoil the plot.. The movie is quite good.Some portions in the middle felt kind of rushed.But it is an interesting 89 minutes that you spend with this film. My Rating:6.5/10
One of my favourites...the climax is so so creepy and scary..to think that the villian is not some coat wearing shouting muscular man...but one among us..amazing performance by both Hugh Jackman and Jake...must watch movie..along the lines of Mystic River.
Imperium (aka Harry Potter and the Neo Nazi Infiltration) Daniel Radcliffe plays an FBI agent who tries to infiltrate the Neo Nazi movement.He is fine as in idealist who is not a tough guy.But the movie is not that particularly good.This one's a below average affair for me.Reviews are generally good.Some may like it
The Signal Nic his girlfriend and their best friend are travelling when we meet them.We are told that they attended MIT recently.The guys are engaged in a little cat n mouse with a hacker called Nomad.They track Nomad's address and drops by there to confront him.And then..... The Signal is sort of a love/hate movie.It is genuinely a surprising movie which won't reveal where it's headed.If you are looking for an original and interesting sci fi film look no further.The pace slackens a bit towards the middle but the movie makes up for it with a strong ending.I loved the ending but some may hate it. Rating:8/10 at least..I might end up rewatching this a few times
Mystic River "Three boys are playing on a street when a car stops near them and asks one of the boys to get in the car. The car drives away and the boy gets home after 4 days after he is abused and raped by two men. This changes the lives of all the three boys forever. Their whole lives are going to be affected by this incident" Directed by the legend Clint Eastwood, this is one of the most intense movies I have ever seen. This is a sad sad movie...but also, underlying, is a crime thriller. The movie is heart breaking and Tim Robbins's ( the guy from shawshak redemption) character will make you cry. The movie goes deep into how insecure people can be and how 'justice' is never really delivered in real life. Life is always unfair...and this movie hits hard where it hurts you. Sean Penn, Tim Robbins and Kevin Bacon are living as the three lead characters. Sean Penn got the Oscar award for the best actor that year for this movie, and it is really one of THE GREATEST EVER ACTING PERFORMANCES BY AN ACTOR ON SCREEN. The movie is a thriller without special effects and fight scenes. This movie is life at its harshest and hardest form. Do watch it!
Train to Busan Zombies are scary.If you disagree with this statement go and watch Train to Busan.The plot can be summarised as "Zombies on a Train" but the characters are well rounded and we keep rooting for them to make it to the end of this hellish train ride.Thank you Korea for making zombies scary again. My Rating:8/10
