The Others The Others is one of the finest horor mystery that i have ever seen.The absence of the usual gimmicks in a horror genre itself makes this a compelling watch.Nicole Kidman nailed it,gratifying performance,the way she carries the whole movie under her shoulders is enough to know the range of her brilliant performance.Supporting Cast were good. Alenjandro Amenabar deserves all the praise for making this a completely absorbing & engaging cinema.This one has a subtle & restrained narration unlike those loud & uninteresring horror cinemas.The superbly executed climax is another strength of this flick - One of the Best Plot Twist Ever. Overall,The Others is an Excellent Watch ! 8.5/10
A History of Violence A History of Violence is a watchable crime drama.The story do have shades of many south indian commercial potboilers,but the making was very much engaging.There is not much of any twist or turns,the movie is simple & straightforward,but has moments to indulge you.Viggo Mortensen in the lead role delivers a superb performance,he was calm & subtle throughout,did complete justice to his role.Others were good. David Cronenberg must be aprreciated for giving a watchable movie out of a theme which has been tried & tested.His making had that certain panache to keep you hooked.The climax scene is beautifully taken,that one scene was enough to make this a good one time watch. Overall,A History of Violence is Watchable ! 7/10
The Game The Game can be a one time watch just for its gripping execution till the climax.The silly plot & a lazy twist at the ending makes this an avg cinema on the whole,the ending was really not worth the build-up given.Michael Douglas was fine,so was the other supporting actors. David Fincher did a good job as the director,but the plot is haywire with nothing much of a stuff in it.The genre is of mystery thriller,but the climax was kind of uninteresting & below par,silly is the most apt word. Overall,The Game is an Avg Watch ! 5.5/10
Central Intelligence Central Intelligence is a passable action comedy.The done to death script was presented in an engaging manner & the performances of lead cast were good,these 2 factors indeed makes this watchable.Kevin Hart - Dwayne Johnson combo worked out big time,it was their lively performance which saved the movie to a great extent.Supporting Cast were okay. Rawson Marshall Thurber did a commendable job directing a lackluster script.Adding enough comedies in the proceedings & bringing out the best from the leads made it a better film in whole.Anways,Its not upto his previous works like - Dodgeball & We're the Millers. Overall,Central Intelligence is a Passable Flick ! 6/10
Mystic River Mystic River is one of those rare cinema where everything is at its best,this one is a brilliantly crafted thriller.The subtle tone along with an engaging plot makes this a superb mystery drama.Performances are just splendid by the lead cast.Sean Penn delivers one of his finest performance as Jimmy,his performance in some of those intense emotional scenes are worth mentioning.Tim Robbins & Kevin Bacon were also superb.Others were good. Clint Eastwood yet again shows his prowess as a filmmaker by giving a highly engaging mystery drama.His making is just amazing - the pace,the mood & the haunting bgm were all just rightly mixed.Eastwood's spellbound making along with gripping performances of the lead cast makes it a must watch. Overall,Mystic River is a Must Watch ! 9/10
Gone Baby Gone Gone Baby Gone is an average watch except for its plot twist.The movie rather moves on an uninteresting fashion,the dull settings & sluggish pace during the initial hour made it a tiring watch.Performances are fine from the lead cast with everyone delivering decent performances.Casey Affelck,Morgan Freeman,Michelle Monaghan & Ed Harris did their parts well. Ben Affleck couldn't make this a gripping thriller except for its final 20 minutes.His making only showed promise in those climax sequences which were superbly taken.A much more interesting narration with an even pace could have made this a better cinema. Overall,Gone Baby Gone is Average ! 5.5/10
Primal Fear Primal Fear is a brilliantly executed thriller.A superb plot twist along with a deeply engaging making makes it a top-notch cinema.The performances makes it even stronger,fabulously acted by the whole cast.Richard Gere delivers one of his finest performance,subtle & natural to the core.Edward Norton on the other hand did a smart job portraying a really complex character,his performance in the climax is worth mentioning.Supporting Cast were good. Gregory Hoblit as the director did an impressive job.His making had that amazing easiness & it was on par with reality.The way he conceived the whole plot is something praiseworthy,balancing the courtroom drama & mystery genre was also done smartly. Overall,Primal Fear is a Must Watch ! 9/10
Bad Moms Bad Moms is a neatly executed comedy drama.The towering performance of the stellar cast,a really connecting plot & an extremely entertaining narration makes this a good watch.Mila Kunis is just fabulous,her charming screen presence along with her excellent performance made it superb,like always - she looked gorgeous.Kristen Bell & Kathryn Hann delivers smart performances,gives ample support to Mila.Others were fine. Jon Lucas - Scott Moore,the director duo did an impressive job,they were in full control of things as the makers.The basic plot was wafer-thin as a short message,but their making was so good.Music is another strength,completely gelled with the proceedings. Overall,Bad Moms is an Entertaining Watch ! 7/10
Into the Wild Into the Wild is a Poignant & Refreshing tale of life & exploration.This is one of the most cherishing cinema that i have seen,masterfully created in all means.The film boasts of a stellar performance from Emile Hirsch,gets into the skin of the character completely & nailed it,stupendous act.Another Brilliant performance is of Hal Halbrook - amazingly acted,the scene between Emile & Hal in the car is pure class. Sean Penn - the master crafter,top-notch making.He equally balances all the emotions throughout the film.Brilliant dialogues,superbly etched out sequences & amazing performances makes this a beautiful cinema.The best is served for the last,the climax portions were indeed the best part of this flick,fabulously taken. The Nice Guys The Nice Guys is a smartly crafted buddy cop thriller.The crackling chemistry of the lead pair & a seemingly engaging plot makes this one a roll-kicking entertainer.Russel-Ryan Combo is indeed the biggest asset of this flick,they together delivers a kick-ass performance.Russel was required to be subtle throughout with Ryan providing the eccentric part.Angourie Rice delivers a fine performance,so do the other supporting actors. Shane Black as the director did an impressive job,Being the maker of "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" & "Iron Man 3",he never disappointed in his third directorial venture.With the support of a well developed plot & neatly sketched characters,Shane Black has succeeded in giving the best output from it.Altogether,The Nice Guys is an absolute joy to watch. Overall,The Nice Guys is a Smart Entertainer ! 8.5/10
