Dead Ringers(1988) I generally like director David Cronenberg's work.In this psychological thriller/drama Jeremy Irons plays twin brothers Bev and Elliot who are brilliant gynecologists.Bev becomes smitten by a client and this sets in in motion some weird consequences. This is not a straight up horror film but it is kind of creepy.Irons is excellent in his dual role.This film is definitely not for everyone.If you like Cronenberg's early work chances are you will like this. My Rating:7/10 at least
Almost Adults Simple and Charming,Almost Adults is a superb feel-good drama.The powerhouse performances of the lead ladies are indeed the biggest asset of this cinema.Elise Bauman and Natasha Negovanlis were just brilliant with their performances,both the actors were stupendous and smart,they share such a great onscreen rapport.Elise in particular was damn too cute,she is really adorable.Justin Gerhard and Winnie Clarke were good in prominent roles. Sarah Rotella has taken a complex theme on board and has smartly converted it into a fully appealing and engaging cinema.Her narration had a good amount of earnestness and honesty which reflected in this fine outcome.The soundtracks were good and the ones used towards the ending was superb.In short,this is a perfect feel-good cinema that gives you enough to think and smile. Overall,Almost Adults is Superb ! 8/10
The Founder The Founder is a finely crafted biographical drama.A seemingly engaging plot has been presented in the most entertaining manner with a dominating performance by its lead actor.Michael Keaton pulls of the character of Ray Kroc with aplomb,he was subtle and superb with his performance.One of the prime factor which makes the proceedings interesting is indeed his smart performance.Supporting cast were good,Nick Offerman anf John Carroll Lynch were really good as the McDonald's brothers. John Lee Hancock as the director did an impressive job.Unlike most of the biographical dramas,this is rather simple and has a non-serious tone.The technical aspects were fine with good frames and soundtracks.The realistic environment is another factor which makes this an interesting watch,each and every scene along with the performances had an original feel,a film with zero gimmicks and exaggeration. Overall,The Founder is Good ! 7.5/10 "It's not just the system Dick,it's the name,it's the glorious name - McDonald's" ❤
Stray Bullets Gripping and Intriguing,Stray Bullets offers an interesting watch.It is the performances which makes this a compelling thriller in spite of the few technical glitches.Every actor was superb with their performances,James Le Gross and John Spered were the best among the cast with their brilliant performances.Without any second thoughts,performances are the backbone of this film. Jack Fessenden has crafted this as a neat and engaging thriller.The shoestring budget made this an average product on the technicalgrounds,dop and editing had some minor issues.Bgm on the other side was fabulous,it made most of the scenes a notch above,the climax tunes were really superb.Im short, this is an engaging thriller which has enough moments to hook you up for its 83 minutes running time. Overall,Stray Bullets is Engaging ! 7/10
Victor Frankenstein Except for the technical fineness and few interesting moments,Victor Frankenstein has nothing much to offer.The makers have tried their level best to make this a visual stunner,but the lack of content and many lacklustre portions plays the spoilsport.James McAvoy is good playing the title character,though nothing great to mention about,he delivers a neat performance.Daniel Radcliffe puts up a commendable performance providing ample support to James.Jessica Brown and Andrew Scott were fine in supporting roles. Paul McGuigan could have made this a lot better if concentrated more on the screenplay rather than making it just another movie which boasts of its visual grandeur. His narration was inconsistent,the movie did start on a good note,but soon falls to the clichéd and predictable zone.In short,this one is an average cinema,a half baked product to be honest. Overall,Victor Frankenstein is Average ! 5/10
Race to Witchmountain Well,this is an add on to the list of those "Rock Entertainers".Though nothing great to boast about,Race to Witchmountain offers a pleasing 100 minutes of entertainment.Dwayne is in his usual self,he delivers a fine performance in his trademark style.Anna Sophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig were really good with their performances,their combination with Dwayne worked out largely in favour of the movie.Carla Gugino puts up a fine performance. Andy Fickman does a neat job crafting a passable cinema that has enough moments to entertain you.Consdering the fact that this is a 2009 flick,the technical aspects were good and doubtlessly forms an integral part in making this a quality stuff.Disney Studios,Andy Fickman and Dwayne Johnson - what else can you expect from this combo other than an entertainer. Overall,Race to Witchmountain is Passable ! 6/10
American Psycho Without a specific genre to mention nor a paricular story to present,American Psycho engages you.Bale's astounding act and some terrifically crafted sequences takes this movie to a whole new level.Christian Bale single handedly shoulders the complete film,his fabulous performance is indeed the prime factor which holds this film together.Supporting cast just got shadowed by Bale's nailing act,he easily dominated each and every sequence. Mary Harron deserves applause for the brilliant presentation of its lead character,this one is definitely a character driven cinema and she indeed structured it superbly.Mary was successful in bringing out the best from Bale,she used him to the fullest making it one of Bale's finest performance.Another superb aspect is its soundtracks,the usage of classic musical tracks in many of the scenes made it look a lot better.In short,this offers a way different experience and a stunning performance from Bale. Overall,American Psycho is Engaging ! 8/10 "This confession has meant nothing"
