Those are just rumours. I believe in destiny. There's no use in just Rajamouli or me wishing for such a project. A lot of factors have to align and that doesn't happen easily. If such a project happens, it's good. But then it will also have to live up to the expectations or else it again becomes unproductive for everyone involved. We will be blamed for messing up a big project and that compounds the risk.

What are your upcoming projects?

I am shooting for Major Ravi's '1971: Beyond Borders' now. Right after the schedule of this movie, I would be travelling to US for a month. I will return in January and resume shooting. I also have a few projects lined up but I have not finalised on which film I will be doing next. I have not signed any films in Kannada, Tamil or Telugu yet; so that should put all rumours to rest. I will be picking a script that the audience will also like. I am ready to wait and will only do an exciting project. That's what I am saying now. If tomorrow, they tell me that I have to do a movie somehow, I will do that (laughs). But I will ensure that it will be an interesting one.

Your son Pranav is set to make his debut next year with Jeethu Joseph's film...

It was his decision. When I told my father that I wanted to act in movies, he might have thought: what's this guy going to do at a time when Prem Nazir, Sukumaran and Jayan were at their peak? So, he told me, 'You finish your graduation and then you can do whatever you like.' I acted in 'Manjil Virinja Pookkal' after completing my degree exams. From then on, I had this really great journey that continues even today.

I had told Appu (Pranav) years ago that if he wants he can act in a movie, because a lot of people have been calling him for projects. They have asked me to push him but I tell them, 'It's his decision,' just like how my dad told me. Appu had acted in a movie as a child artiste earlier, won an award for that as well. He was also the best actor in school. But just because you are Mohanlal's son, that doesn't mean you can act. Maybe he was also aware of that and that's why he turned down all the offers that came to him. But now after many years, he said he will try doing a movie. He's also comfortable working with Jeethu, because he has assisted him in two films.
