#Suriya39 will be directed by Siva

For the past few months, there’s been a strong buzz about Suriya teaming up with Siva for a film. Now, we have it officially from the makers that the duo is indeed working together in a project - #Suriya39 - which will go on floors in the next two months.

KE Gnanavel Raja, who’s producing the film, tells us, “This will be a city-based entertainer, and we will roll with the project from June. Siva is known for his commercial films — a complete package with action, humour, romance and drama. This film will also be like that, a mass-ey treat for his and Suriya’s fans. We are looking at releasing the film by early 2020.”

Vetri will handle the camera, and Dhilip Subbarayan and Ruben have been brought on board as the stunt choreographer and editor respectively. “We are yet to finalise the female lead,” he informs. Buzz is that Imman has been roped in to compose the music. However, the producer tells us that nothing has been confirmed yet.

While Siva’s last release with Ajith — Viswasam — was appreciated by the audience, Suriya has been working on a couple of films simultaneously. He recently started shooting for Sudha Kongara’s Soorarai Pottru, which is based on the life of Air Deccan founder, Captain GR Gopinath. While his film with Selvaraghavan, NGK, is slated for a May release, Kaappaan, for which he’s teamed up with KV Anand, again, is also nearing completion, with just a song left to be shot.

A source says, “Suriya had also met Hari, and it gave rise to speculations of them joining hands again for a film titled Yaanai. But Suriya’s next will be with Siva, and that will probably be his first release next year.”
